Malcolm Shabazz Harlem Plaza
$102 Million
Malcolm Shabazz Harlem Plaza is the proposed development on the current site of the Malcolm Shabazz Harlem Market/ Incubator Program
The re-development of the site is being proposed by a Shabazz Procida LLC (SP) a partnership between the Malcolm Shabazz Development Corp. (MSDC) & Procida Development Group (PDG)
MSDC is the founder and steward of the market and since the inception of the Business Incubator Program in 1994
PDG has been a Bronx based construction and development company focused on affordable housing since the mid 1970’s
Given the current housing crisis and rapidly rising rents across New York City, MSDC and PDG proposed to re-develop the site in conjunction with HPD, the current landowner
The proposed re-development would temporarily re-locate the current market vendors during construction
Once construction is complete, the vendors would be able to move back into the newly improved market and the Malcolm Shabazz Harlem Market Incubator Program will flourish inside a new home owned by MSDC
SP received a 9% LIHTC award from NYC HPD in July 2025
In addition to the new market, the proposed development will bring 122 units of affordable housing to the neighborhood
