National Standard Abstract Partners With Council Member I. Daneek Miller To Deliver 300 Lunches To Transit Workers At Jamaica & Queens Village Bus Depots During Covid-19 Pandemic

May 8, 2020 – Queens, NY – Today, Council Member I. Daneek Miller

(D-Jamaica) provided one hundred fifty lunches each to the Jamaica and Queens Village Bus Depots in partnership with ATU Local 1056, Artimus NYC, BRP Companies, OMNI New York, Emblem Health, American Recycling, and National Standard Abstract. The lunches were catered by Southern Girls Soul Food, a local eatery in Springfield Gardens, and included an assortment of collard greens, candied yams, cornbread, chicken, fish, and mac and cheese. “Transit workers have been at the forefront of this crisis, and we’ve tragically lost over one hundred workers who succumbed to COVID-19 complications. These dedicated men and women continue to show up for work each day despite the considerable risk to their own health and safety. Today’s action is a small token of our appreciation for the dedicated work that transit workers perform each day. I thank our generous sponsors for their contributions and continued partnership supporting the Southeast Queens Community and the City as a whole,” said Council Member I. Daneek Miller, Chair of the Civil Service and Labor Committee.
